Help make the summer holidays special for vulnerable children and young people
All children and young people need good experiences. Holiday camps are for children and young people who, for various reasons, have a special need for a holiday week filled with good experiences. As a kitchen volunteer at a holiday camp, you can save a rainy day with a piece of cake and create community around the dinner table.
Community is at the heart of holiday camps The purpose of holiday camps is to create a community where all participants are valued just as they are - children, young people and adults alike. There are many reasons why children and young people need a holiday week filled with activities and new friends. It could be for financial, social or family reasons.
At holiday camp, kids get a pat on the back, wild adventures and laughs galore - and that makes for lifelong memories for everyone who attends. Together with other volunteers, you help to give
the tenant's life.
Spread joy as a kitchenoptional
Each holiday camp has its own team of volunteers who provide all the good and delicious food during the week. In the kitchen, you'll not only be part of a great volunteer community, but you'll also have great and important conversations with children and young people when they lend a hand in the kitchen.
To become a kitchen volunteer, it's important that you want to cook, but you don't need to have cooking experience. We promise you'll have a week full of great experiences and be part of a team with other kitchen volunteers who take pride in creating meals that bring the camp together.
Where and when can I join?
The camps are held in weeks 28, 29 and 30. The Red Cross Youth organises a total of 23 holiday camps across the country. We have children's camps for children aged 7 to 13 and youth camps for young people aged 14 to 17.
