Fancy jumping into the water after work in the middle of the Faroe Islands' magnificent nature among sheep and puffins?

Then maybe you can become a chef at our hotel from May to September. We'll help you find a place to stay.

Welcome to Gjógv - the village on the cliff edge

Our hotel is located in Gjógv, a settlement with less than 30 permanent residents. The village is known for its unique natural harbour, which attracts many tourists every year. The hotel has 28 rooms and our restaurant is a popular stop for tourist buses and other travellers. We also serve coffee and waffles at the natural harbour.

Help us brag about Faroese food

We cook with local ingredients, including those with that special Faroese flavour. It's mainly lamb, fish, potatoes, beetroot and rhubarb. The food follows the Nordic traditions, where it is the ingredients that carry the dish.

Some days there are several tourist buses with up to 40 lunch guests in each. Other days are quieter. So your days will be different when you, among other things:

  • Preparing food for guests, such as soups and other a la carte dishes
  • Making sandwiches and waffle batter for our café at the natural harbour
  • Lends a hand with setting up, clearing up, washing dishes, serving and whatever else is needed.

Share the adventure with your colleagues

We're a small team and you'll help create something important here and be part of a close team that makes the hotel run. Most people are only employed for the summer season. Just like you. Here you can become part of a very special community where everyone comes from the outside. And probably find someone who wants to join you on your hikes.

You can cook and serve Nordic food, and you:

  • Would like to have worked in a hotel before
  • May be a trained chef - you may also be in the school programme
  • Have completed the required hygiene courses
  • Enjoys presenting food to guests and is energised by working with others
  • Can speak Danish and English.
