About the position
Saji is looking for an experienced Sous Chef to become an important part of the kitchen leadership team.
You will work closely with the Head Chef to keep the kitchen running smoothly, maintain consistent food quality and support a positive, well-organised working environment.
This role is suited to someone who is comfortable in a busy kitchen, enjoys taking responsibility and knows how to lead a team calmly during service.
About Saji
Saji was founded in December 2022 by Samuel and Jimmy, two best friends who met at culinary school more than a decade ago.
Since then, they have shared a love of cooking and a strong belief in how food can bring people together.
Through Saji, they want to share the warmth and flavours of their homeland, Sumatra, with Copenhagen — and help make the city’s food scene a little more diverse and a little spicier.

Your responsibilities

Support the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations

Manage daily inventory, ordering and preparation plans

Lead and motivate the kitchen team during preparation and service

Maintain consistent food quality and presentation

Ensure food hygiene and safety standards are followed

Assist with menu development and seasonal changes

Manage food costing and improve kitchen efficiency

Train and support junior staff
We are looking for someone who
-
Has strong knowledge and understanding of Asian flavours
-
Has previous experience as a Sous Chef, or as an experienced Senior Chef de Partie ready to take the next step

Has experience working in a full service restaurant

Has experience with menu development and food costing

Has confident leadership and communication skills

Has strong organisational and time-management skills

Has a positive attitude and strong team spirit

Is able to communicate effectively in English

Is willing to master product knowledge, including Indonesian names and terms for dishes, ingredients and cooking techniques
